Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Refresher Course

Course Guidline:

  • Plesse note that only those who had ATLS Provider Course before by the American College of Surgeons can attend this course.
    ATLS Course timing starts from 7 AM until 7 PM (
    Ramadan Timing will be different and participant will receive timing details through the email)
  • Participant must arrive on time.
  • Participant order will be confirmed within 24H and you will receive only order confirmation notifiction first.
  • Participant will receive a reminder a day before the course with the final attending details ( Location, Timing..etc).

Course Description

  1. Eligibility (“Who Can Attend”)
    • Only current ATLS verified clinicians are eligible for the ATLS Refresher.
    • Your ATLS verification status remains valid for 4 years after completing a course (traditional, hybrid, or refresher).
    • There is a 6-month “grace period” after expiration during which you can take a Refresher to reverify.
  2. Format / Duration
      • 1-day
    • Both formats include: content review, skills practice, and written + practical tests.
  3. Course Content / Structure 
  • The refresher course is designed to refresh (“refresher”) — not to teach new in-depth content. It reviews core ATLS principles.
  • It includes:
    • Content overview (didactic / discussion)
    • Skills stations (trauma simulation)
    • Triage / case-scenarios
    • Written test + practical (skills) test.

Course Policies / Expiration

After completing the refresher, your ATLS card / verification is valid 4 years

  • ATLS providers are considered expired during the 6-month grace period — even though they can register for a refresher during that time.
  • Failing to take refresher in that 6 month window → must re-enroll in a full ATLS course (Traditional / Hybrid).

 

Course Objectives:

The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS®) Course provides the participant with a safe, reliable method for immediate management of the injured patient and the basic knowledge necessary to:

  • Assess a patient's condition rapidly and accurately using a standard algorithm.
  • Recognize, prioritize, and manage life-threatening injuries.
  • Determine whether the specific management needs of a patient exceed the resources of a facility and/or the capability of a clinician.
  • Encourage effective teamwork, humanistic/trauma-informed care, effective communication, and recognition of opportunities to implement injury prevention.

Upon successful completion of the ATLS® Course, the participant will be able to:

  • Demonstrate concepts/principles of primary and secondary assessment.
  • Establish management priorities.
  • Initiate primary/secondary management.
  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to assess/manage the critically injured patient.
